More About Dan Bruneau

Despite his early love for storytelling, Dan's professional journey took a different path. In a 25-year career with the federal government, he established and directed communications programs, led workplace mediations and conducted training sessions on writing, management and career development.
His writing has already brought awards in literary arts competitions and has led to the recent release of his first collection of short stories, The Journey and the Destination. The book’s title story is based on a brief, one-time, chance encounter and the question of what happened after the parties went their separate ways. Other stories explore how early childhood experiences stay with us even late in life—teaching us valuable lessons that continue to influence and guide us.

Dan has been called a “freak magnet,” a label he accepts proudly and with gratitude for the many stories it has presented. Among his words to live by are a quote from actor Bill Murray, who said he tries to be “alert and available” to what life brings.

Dan lives in southeastern North Carolina with his wife, artist Susan Fishbein, and their dog Sofie.
